On days like this where I accomplish nothing we will be playing a little game called “What’s Homeboy Doin?” Here are two photos of Homey from today proving that Afghan Hounds require a pillow and will make do with a cat if need be… stay tuned for more exciting installments of Homey’s escapades.

Looks like we are back to making freak show performers.. this is the creepiest doll I’ve ever let in my house. Worse than that I took it apart which will likely result in some voodoo curse being put on me:) It really can’t go to it’s new home soon enough. It’s nice to feel that way instead of my usual wanting to keep new pieces. Head and neck can be removed to hang on a wall and easily reattached..

Revival Boy stands 22" tall and about 4 1/2" wide, he was created with vintage wooden spools, antique doll parts and a wooden antique kite string spool. There's a crack on the cheek of the doll head and a finger missing from his hand...we all have our flaws. He's in three seperate parts which allows many different poses. Number 145 in the series of 1000 Pieces.

Wanda's hips are so wide she's taken on airplane proportions...baby got back.

Wide Load Wanda was created with a Danish Modern teak tray, vintage toy wooden bottles, old tin of salve, vintage doll arms and a very old cool ridged alarm clock head that's removable. She's red, green and yellow wood and tin. Wanda is almost 10" tall and 18" wide, she's named, signed, dated and number 142 in the series of 1000 Pieces.

Rotunda is as well rounded as a girl can be...

She was created with a vintage red wooden candy dish with perfect paint loss, a car clock from the 40's, vintage doll arms and old tuner thingys from some kind of musical instrument. Rotunda measures 12" tall and 9" wide and hangs on the wall, she's named, signed, dated and number 144 in the series of 1000 Pieces. Thanks!

Sexy Centaur Boy is my version of the mythical creature with the head, arms and chest of a man but the legs and lower half of a horse. He was created with vintage toy bowling pins, old doll arms, bishop chess piece tail, vintage blocks and a very cool handmade folk toy rattle with a wood ball inside. The rattle is made with half light wood and half dark and spins in the block base so he can pose and look around. Centaur Boy measures 17 1/2" tall by 5 1/4" wide. He's signed, named, dated and my new boyfriend:)

Global Poultry is a big headed chicken who wants to come live at your house :)

He was created with an old world globe I never thought I'd part with, it actually was part of an assemblage table I made years ago...it's old, banged up and really discolored as seen in the pics. He has a vintage car turn signal beak, toy wooden bowling pin legs, old wood doorknob and a vintage hammer. I'm assembling my tools, it's officially a sickness...

Global Poultry is made to hang from two nails under his hammer head or could be leaned up against a wall. He measures 17 1/2" tall by 6" wide and sticks out from the wall about 7 1/2"

Jill the Dutch Girl was created with an old Brooks leather bike seat, vintage red wooden clogs from Holland, old yarn spindles, vintage shoe stretchers and an old brown croquet ball head. The colors in the photos didn't come out quite right, she's browns and tan with very red shoes. Jill stands 18 1/2" tall by 10 1/2" wide at the hands. Spacegirl is a sassy, hot teenage robot sculpture. She has vintage wooden yarn spool legs up to "there." Spacegirl would be perfect in a retro decor or on the desk of a sci-fi fanatic. Her head is a mini bakelite cue ball, she has a french tart tin skirt and old fuse body. Spacegirl is 10 2/3" tall and about 3 1/2" wide at the skirt, she's number 105 in the series of 1000 pieces. This guy is loitering around the carnival looking for fun. He's a bit squirly, unsure of himself and loudly says "awww shucks" too often. With his purple and green shorts and skinny legs he's sure to find love soon.

Goober the tourist was created with old toys, vintage oil can, the inside working of a vintage alarm clock, vintage peanut butter jar lid and an old crystal and brass doorknob. Goober stands 16" tall,and will be named, signed, numbered and dated if I can find a place to do that.

Gomer is a swell camera robot looking for a good woman (or man) to pursue a serious relationship with. He's punctual, older but stylish, short, stable and solid. He's currently unemployed but looking for modeling work.

Gomer was created with a vintage Sawyer Nomad camera that still works if it ever did it's just way heavy now. His head is a vintage Big Ben alarm clock that ticks and seems to keep good time. He has domino and dice legs, is 8" tall, 5" wide and number 100 in the series of 1000 Pieces. He's signed, named, numbered and dated on the bottom of his feet.

Juggler Jane is a special piece to me because her torso is a vintage wood rattle that my son played with when he was a baby. I hesitated to part with it but he's 13 now and I just can't get him to play with it anymore try as I might. So.. Jane's a juggler and one of the crazy circus folks I've been making. She's sexy and all thighs sporting her bowling pin legs and sassy shoulders. Her head can be positioned anyway you like and she has a wood hula hoop that is loose around her neck. At almost 18" tall, Jane is a juggling force to be reckoned with. She's named, signed, dated and number 87 in the series of 1000 Pieces. Oh and she can be hung on a wall too.

Slim the Cowboy is another colorful carney and quite the sexy, suave cowboy. His body is a vintage xylophone and he's got vintage bowling pin legs and old ceramic boots. His head is an old red croquet ball and can be posed. He's tall and extremely thin. Slim measures 30 1/2" tall and 14" wide at the shoulders. I walked in my bedroom today and realized it looks as tho I have run away and joined the circus. This is not even all the sculptures in photos. Between too many 13 yr old boys shooting nerf guns and other warfare and a bad kitten i've been forced to keep almost all my sculptures in my room for safety and it looks like some strange obsessive decorating scheme...

I would happily ship some off to other crazy people's homes...

Spanish Dancer is a salsa dancing senorita created with an artisan made iron and rich red leather lampshade, old tarnished teapot and a vintage mexicana metal toy tambourine. Her tambourine head can pivot from side to side and she could easily become a lamp with a small light source placed under her skirt. This chica is huge at just over 23" tall and 12" wide, she's named, signed numbered, dated and number 85 in the series of 1000 Pieces.

We used to play this game all the time on my street growing up, that means I'm old.

Red Rover is a really good dog and number 28 in my series of 1000 Pieces. He was created with a red vintage metal flashlight, copper salt & pepper shakers and old muffin tins. He stands 10" tall and 9" long, his head moves up and down and his tail goes up. Red Rover is named, signed, dated, recycled and one of a kind.

This is the Espresso family, named Venti, Grande and Tall. They are over-caffeinated and always on the go... Oh and the mother's an amputee but it doesn't slow her down a bit. I've decided to keep these together as a family unit and sell them as a group. They were created with old metal espresso pots, pool balls and vintage "paint by number" paints in glass jars. The heads are not attached so they can be posed. The dad measures 17" tall and the child is 11 1/2" They are signed and dated and 3 of a kind...

This is Paw pictured with his mate the bowlegged coffee babe. They are the perfect couple....if only Paws head were flat so she could set her drink on it. I've for some unknown reason been completely in love with these silly vintage 50's Maw & Paw Hillbilly coffee mugs for years and have a collection. I think part of the appeal is that they were made in Japan and I can't imagine what the Japanese factory workers back then must have thought of Americans portrayed on these with the outhouses and screaming wives and such. This mug was my favorite because of the more colorful graphics and donkey.

some big pieces are in the works and my 11 year old son has become an assembling nut over night...

He showed up on craig's list... as usual people who think they want Afghan's quickly realize they don't. He's been cooped up in a small dog run and kennel his whole life and is completely untrained. He's quickly getting the hang of hanging out all day doing artsy stuff and sleeping next to me while I work. He's already learned to walk up steps and jump in my truck, neither of which he would do a few days ago. Apparently he never went anywhere in the car. My other afghan Monkey is not real fond of him but he's dealing. Monk is white and my son wants to have them be "Spy vs Spy" for halloween.

If I use the name you suggest I'll send you an all expense paid vacation to Tahiti.. not really, it's hot there this time of year anyway. Really I'll send you your pick of an 8x10 print from my shop. Enter as many times as you like. He's a boy so no girlie names please. Thanks!

These were really fun to make, I broke down and bought a croquet set from an antique store cause I was just desperate for the balls. I'm having a hard time getting the colors right in the photos, the balls are orange and medium blue and the yellow bowl is not as dayglo as it appears. Anyway I've since taken apart the whole damn set and carrying case... stay tuned for more destruction.

So here's the new pieces I've been working on.... I bought the tins at the flea market last weekend not knowing what I would do with them but needing them just the same. The hillbilly man I bought them from warned me "now I gotta tell you there's not alot left in there." So i guess he thought i would use the contents? As if I would ever put some 50 year old salve named "Petro-Carbo Salve" on my skin? I'm not a fancy girl who uses high dollar beauty products but cmon. So the worst part was i had to clean the tins out and the petro- carbo lived up to it's name, it was black and sludgy like thick motor oil and repeled soap and water for too long. I love the colorful graphics on the tins tho so it was worth the sludge. I've started to not attach the pool balls so they can be moved around and "posed." Sometimes i get all into making stuff and knock other stuff over on this table my dogs always sleep under while I work. Today this has resulted in two bakelite poolballs rolling off and hitting a dog. That'll learn em...

Apparently none of my collections are safe anymore, I've been saving bakelite buttons in a big old jar forever and now I'm stacking them too. There's something fulfilling about making stuff from junk I already have and shipping it off, little by little I'm riding myself of "collections" and just keeping my very favorite things. Well I've spent much of the day singing "Dude looks like a lady" loudly tho I really have no idea of the tune. I showed my son this new piece and sang the song and he laughed so hard I just keep doing it. I wish i knew the tune, that would be helpful.

"Dude" was created with a really cool retro glass and chrome? coffee pot, vintage bocce ball, old wooden game parts and old danish wooden candlestick legs. He/she stands 21 1/2" tall and has legs up to here. If i can sign the bottom of the candlesticks i will.

As anyone with a shop on Etsy knows these last couple weeks have been hell on sales. The search functions have gone haywire and newly listed items may not show up for days. Unless someone already knows about your shop and goes there there's no traffic. Many of my listings are nowhere to be found thru a search. I went from doing over $900. in sales (both etsy shops) last month to non-existent sales this month. It's scary and bad timing so I'm having a "Buy one get one free Etsy lost my shop Sale" on all earrings. I'm also offering free shipping on art that generally ships for $10.
